Glendronach Ode to the Embers is a rare peated Highland single malt that stands out among the distillery's traditional sherry cask-aged, non-peated lineup. Released as part of the Master's Anthology collection, it is crafted by Master Blender Dr. Rachel Barry. It is aged in Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks and features Aberdeenshire Highland peat used to dry the malted barley. This results in a gently sweet, earthy smokiness that differs from the more medicinal peaty notes of Islay malts.
Key features of the tasting notes:
Nose: Sweet spice fudge, caramelized walnut brittle, cinnamon biscuits, candied nuts, flamed orange, and subtle herbal smoke.
Palate: Raisins and stewed apples from the sherry, blackberry ganache, honey nuts, smoky chocolate fudge, and a mild earthy peat. The peat is soft and well-balanced.
Finish: Long-lasting notes of dark berries, smoked licorice, cocoa, nutmeg, treacle and smoked clove.Awards and recognition:
Winner of Double Gold at the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
summary:

Its subtle smoky character and distinctive Glendronach flavor make it a perfect choice for fans of the distillery or anyone interested in Highland peat.
