-evaluation-
This 2025 release was distilled in July 2016 using Bere barley grown on High Ranachan Farm and bottled in December 2024 after eight years of ageing. It has an ABV of 58.1% and was matured in ex-sherry casks (50%) and ex-bourbon casks (50%).
Tasting notes:
Nose: Medical and industrial notes of turpentine, grilled lemon, floor cleaner, and antiseptic cream. There's also a spicy kick of white pepper.
Taste: Opens with notes of sawn wood and disinfectant, evolving into vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce. The peat smoke is subtle, reminiscent of a beach bonfire.
Finish: A long, sweet finish with distinct soft toffee notes.
Overall, this is a high-quality whisky that doesn't show its youth, and embodies the traditional Campbeltown style.
